What are Spiritual Vitamins?

It's a small jar filled with scriptures containing God's promises. "This Spiritual Vitamin Jar is brought to you from God's Word, the Bible." The objective is to reach in and pull out a 'vitamin', read it, reflect on it, apply it, share it, appreciate it, and pass it on!

God's Blessings on you as you seek to know Him in a personal way.

Give the jars as a gift for birthdays, weddings, graduations, baptisms, "Because I care", hospital stay, grief, or for encouragement.

One of our regular supporters sends them to fiends and relatives in other countries.

Another woman gave a jar as a gift to her mother who loved it so much she decided to give it in turn to her daughter and husband as a wedding gift presenting it as a special gift before the whole wedding reception.

One of our friends has given them to many people who are in recovery from an addiction or compulsion. These gifts have opened people’s hearts to the Lord and His love for them in a way nothing else can.

We know a man who works in people's homes repairing things. He carries one or two with him, to give when he feels the need is there, according to their conversations.

Leave a jar in the restroom in your church

A pharmacist has one on the counter where people come to get their medications picked up. This is something the patients look forward to each time they come. No matter how sick they are, a vitamin will cheer them up and give hope.

College students can have them in their dorm room, for anyone who happens to need a "boost" in their day. It is a very popular place to stop on the way past it.

Have a jar by the front door and when people come to the house give them one before they leave.

Ask permission from your Dr. to leave one in the waiting room of his office.

Replace fortunes in fortune cookies with a spiritual vitamin. Now they are blessing cookies! Ah so!

They are good to give at wedding and baby showers as attendance prizes.

Give them as prizes for games at church functions.

If you volunteer at a homeless shelter see if they will let you put one where they come for their food.

Give one to an unchurched friend who has just been diagnosed with a serious illness.

They make great gifts for teachers.

We have left them in Nursing Homes for staff and residents. They go fast. One resident kept all of hers on the file cabinet. Her family had them as part of the story of her life.

One friend has one on his desk at work. As a foreman, when he hears about people’s moods and frustrations- he sends them to his desk for a word of encouragement.

We realize that some of these ideas are not, in themselves, to the unchurched. However the person you give it to might just get the idea and pass it on to others that you don’t know.

We welcome comments about how you have or will use a jar. It is amazing how God has used them to change people’s lives in some cases. In others it might be the only “Bible” they will ever have.

They are also an excellent witnessing tool.

A suggestion: before you give your jar away...pray for the person who will receive it. Ask the Holy Spirit to open their heart to receive God’s message of Salvation for them. Also pray for the words that you use when you present it to them. Then, continue to pray for that person’s faith to grow.

We love to hear stories about how these jars change lives. If you have a special story please email me at nschlote@comcast.net or send it snail mail to Attn: Nancy Schlote, Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Rd
